LIFE PROGRAM

Students may come to John Robert Powers for modeling and acting training, but we never forget to prepare them for their most important journey…Life!  The “Life Program” is what makes John Robert Powers famous worldwide. It is the foundation of the John Robert Powers legacy. No other national school provides a core program of this kind.  This program will prepare one for the future as well as give a leading edge for today. It is not only meant for aspiring models and actors.  The Life Program can and should be taken by anyone wanting to excel and succeed, and includes five classes covering the following areas:  Confidence building, goal setting, etiquette and manners, public speaking, interviewing skills, protocol, image development, wardrobe, nutrition, first impressions and social graces.

ACTING I & ACTING II

Explore the world of acting in an exciting classroom setting.  Start by learning how to be in TV commercials and then move on to acting in sit-coms, feature films and even theater.  Develop well-honed communication skills and conquer your fears of speaking in public.  Act and perform for your peers, as well as learn how to work in front of a camera. John Robert Powers will challenge you with scene work and select monologues that will best show your personality and talent.  The “Acting I Program” and “Acting II Program” are two different five week programs that cover the following areas: Auditioning fundamentals, perfecting slating, improvisation, monologues, diction, overcoming shyness, script breakdown, infomercials, marketing tools, one-liners, scene set-ups, fine tuning a character, headshots, and resumes, unions, Coogan Law, agents and managers.

MODELING

Have you ever dreamt of being in a catalogue or fashion show?  Is your child so photogenic he/she should be in magazines?  It’s time to become a model of success at John Robert Powers.  Our Modeling Program will help you create your own unique look and style, emphasizing “make down” not “make up”.  Learn what the most current industry standards are for top modeling agents, fashion magazines and designers.  John Robert Powers will show you how to walk into any room and shine with poise, confidence, and elegance.  The Modeling Program consists of five classes that will cover the following:  Goal setting, model’s appearance, posture, photo basics, turns, body and facial expression, rhythm, choreography, photo shoots, agents, and backstage etiquette.

SINGING PRO

The Singing Pro program nurtures the gifts and talents of aspiring singers and brings them to a level of maturity and competitiveness for the exciting world of music entertainment.  Our mission is to develop each individual’s natural talents and interest with a unique and distinctive mode of training. Artists will develop a strong sense of their musical self and strengthen their social skills through emotional development and stage presence. This program has been designed to increase confidence and self esteem so that students can express his/her own personal creativity through this program.  Singing Pro includes five classes that cover the following:  Breathing techniques, musical voice, performance, music business, pitch and vibrato, stage performance, videos and promotion.

IMPROVISATION

The Improv program is our most popular acting program! It focuses on actor preparation and spontaneity by learning and performing Improv games. Made famous by Drew Carey’s “Who’s line is it anyway,” Improv is a must have tool in the actors tool belt.

MONOLOGUE CLASS

This mid-level acting class incorporates techniques learned in TV1 and applies them to the mastery of monologue performance. Both challenging and fun, the monologue class is a must for any student who wants to successfully audition at a professional level.

SCENE STUDY

This advanced program explores on-camera performance techniques by performing multi character television and film scenes. Designed to inspire reality in acting, the scene study program utilizes the latest techniques and methods to insure that John Robert Powers actors are prepared to take on the challenge of professional level performance on the set.
